H. Følsgaard Elektro started in 1922, when Hans Følsgaard opened an electrical wholesale in Copenhagen. By 1946, his son Povl Følsgaard began to import electric components.

HF Belysning A/S was a subsidiary of the H. Følsgaard Elektro, and the set up was to specialize in lighting production. Their masterpiece is the Symfoni light Series, designed by Preben Dal in the early 1960s.
