Wakisaka, Katsuji

Japanese Katsuji Wakisaka designed print patterns for Marimekko from 1968 to 1976 and again in 2001. His designs were characterised by a free and playful approach to pattern composition and a vivid and exuberant colour palette.

In 1975, Katsuji designed the Bo Boo print - an instant classic upon its introduction. Especially in the United States, Bo Boo inspired a wonderfully varied and colourful assortment of products, including bed linen, towels, bags and tableware.
