Larsen, Ejnar

Denmark (1917-1987)

Furniture designer Ejner Larsen finished his training as a cabinetmaker and continued his education at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts’ Furniture School, graduating in 1940. He taught at the Furniture School 1941-56 and was employed with Christiansborg Castle Management and the Ministry of Housing’s Property Directorate. In 1947 he founded a design practice with furniture designer Axel Bender Madsen.

Together Ejner Larsen and Axel Bender Madsen designed a long line of finely finished furniture types for production by both craftsmen and industry. One of his most significant works is the Metropolitan chair (RP08917).
