Holm Sørensen & Co. was founded by designer Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913-2004) in the mid-1950s. He started the production with desk lamps, but a few years later, Svend Aage Holm Sørensen invented his own special process, where he acid and flame treated brass to bring out a wondrous specter of colors – this special process is today his signature and tell-signs to lights missing the label.

Holm Sørensen created his sculptural acid and flame treated brass lights up through the 1960s, but also a number of colored glass wall sconces are known to be produced by Holm Sørensen.
