Hassel & Teudt

Hassel & Teudt was a Danish gas and plumbing company, which mainly focus was engineering and manufacturing of electric lighting and steam engines. The company accounts include the first electric lighting system in Copenhagen around 1892, and supplied the wiring, when all of Copenhagen installed gas lighting around 1853.

Hassel & Teudt was founded d. June 30th, 1857 by JG Fridolin (1829-1887) and Louis F. Teudt (1820-1896). Teudt retired in 1883, after which Hassel became sole owner. In 1886, Hassel & Teudt was given the predicate of Royal Court-Mekanici. After Hassel’s death, the brothers Fridolin and Aage Hassel continued the company until 1923, when Aage Hassel became sole owner.

The lighting production is not very well known, and the best known lighting from this Company is properly the series HT Rustik, from the 1960s, which was produced in hand molded glass sconces and came in 12 different models. The company is mainly known for its sanitary products.
